Creating a generative art landscape where the content for the stars and the ocean would be generated over time. Using Unity for generative art let me see this program in a new light since before I only used it purely for making games or for making game-related content. Also, I don’t think that during my time with Unity before this assignment I had the chance to learn how to properly implement code pertaining to coroutines and such so this was a great opportunity to experiment with that. This was also my chance to tinker around with some of the tools and parts of the program that I haven’t been able to before like turning a regular material into a sky shader and being able to manipulate it. Not only that, I was able to explore more additions that were made since I last used Unity since 2019. From my independent studies I’ve been interested in using game engines as more than a place to make games since I started exploring their potential as a site to render assets. This project has shown me that I can push the use of Unity beyond just a render engine and use generative code and techniques to expand what I can make.
