Testing out character animation in Unity with a prototype of a new character that I’m developing. With the focus of this prototype being character animation, I wanted to take this opportunity to develop a new character since I haven’t done that in a while. I created a UFO character prototype that I haven’t been able to fully flesh out but have plans to continue developing said character visually until I’m satisfied with the end result. For now I think this prototype does the job of at least getting the UFO to move around so I can start to experiment with expressions and design later on.

I remember a long time ago I struggled with using the animator because I didn’t have the greatest experiences with it. Back then it felt like the engine was fighting against me for trying to implement my own animations. Past works were bogged down due to the animation transitions feeling not up to my standard and hoped for better experiences in the future. This time around, maybe because I used 2D assets instead of 3D, the animator cooperated this time around and was able to have a much better experience in producing animation transitions that felt more natural. The flow feels more natural and overall implementation went much more smoothly.
